About Us:

Located in our little shack in the middle of downtown Crested Butte, CO, this is where it all begins. It is here, in this cozy little alpine style hut that you will meet your guide, receive any neccessary gear, and begin the adventure of a lifetime. The Crested Butte Mountain Guides have over fifteen years of experience working and playing in the Elk Mountains of Colorado. Our guides are local area experts in terms of knowing the best snow to ski, getting you to the top of your first rockclimb, taking you sea kayaking in Colorado, helping you climb a frozen waterfall, showing you the secret spots where all the summer alpine wildflowers are best, or guiding you down the nation’s best single track. Whether it is your first trip with us, or your 100th, you can be assured you will receive a fun, safe, and professional experience.

CBMG supports and operates under the guidelines set forth by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA). The AMGA is our nation’s sole representative to the twenty-one-member International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA), the international governing body responsible for guiding standards and education around the world. All of our senior guides, and most of our newer guides, are somewhere on the AMGA training tract towards reaching full certification in each discipline: rock, alpine, and ski. All of our ski guides have AMGA Ski Guide training or certification.
